The Center for International Business Education and Research at the University of Illinois (Illinois CIBER) was established in 1993 as a leader in advancing the study and teaching of international business and supporting research on global competitiveness.
Illinois CIBER is part of a network of centers created by the United States Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 and is administered by the US Department of Education under Title VI, Part B of the Higher Education Act of 1965. The goal of this act was to increase and promote the nation's capacity for international understanding and competitiveness. CIBER grants run for 4 year cycles, following which the individual schools must again compete for subsequent 4 year periods.
Originally a group of five, the CIBER network now comprises 33 business schools which serve as regional and national resources for business practitioners, students and teachers at all levels. As a member of the CIBER network, we work closely with CIBER universities in providing comprehensive services and programs that help improve American competitiveness.
